Even though it started out as a thing my friends and I talked about and added stuff to, and was basically a dick-around running tale, the characters and the story grew on us. Every time we told the beginning of the plot and some of the characters to a person who hadn't heard it before, the loved it and wanted to hear more of it. It was then my friend and I kinda knew "hey, we may damn well have something here".
Also there was a certain person whose story I had read years ago and never forgot about that was a definite inspiration to me. She wrote and illustrated this great story and it had this great quality to it. You could feel the effort, the heart and soul she put into her work and used it as a tool to help better her abilities as well, as she had completely re-written and illustrated it not to long ago to give it what she felt was a necessary upgrade. The way I saw it was "If she can write out a story, illustrate it, and be proud of her accomplishment, then dammit, what's my excuse?" I have to thank her for being my true inspiration to put pen to paper and make my characters come to life. And I find myself feeling proud and having a blast at the same time. Thanks, Liz!
As I had said though, I really don't know and don't care for the moment what I'll do with the story once it is finished. I love writing it and everyone who asks to see it loves to read it, and at the moment, that that's damn good enough for me. Some of my friends that have a talent for art have told me to expect some character illustrations as well, wich really blew my mind. The thought of someone drawing one of our characters tickled the HELL out of me. I may post them here (with their permission and copyright, of course) some time, and they're cool with that. So anyone that gives a crap, look for them sometime in the near future. Peace out!
